Afterwards

Afterwards
the cat climbs on
the bed,
lying down he
rests against your legs,
also content
just to hear your easy breathing.

In the morning I
will not care about
the urgencies of the day,
will sit across from you
and drink my coffee
nearly forgetting
what time it is.

But for now,
the moon is suspended
in the sky,
the cat is content
to purr
and I will listen
to your sighs.
