Amazing!

Just a week or two ago I wrote a Face Book post, “On the Cusp of a Coup.” I am not trying to say “I told you so.” I wrote out of fear and anxiety for what seemed very likely. So, it was not a Coup, technically. January 6, 2021 was a Day of Anarchy, or Insurrection. If a coup was intended, it failed, at least temporarily, and I do not need to repeat any of the stories of mayhem in our Capitol.

But, I am amazed.

I am amazed, in spite of myself, that #45 actually said the things he said.

I am amazed at the images of the storming of the Capitol.

I am amazed that the legislature continued into the night and actually finished the business of certifying the results we already knew. That really amazed me!

I will not be amazed if there is extreme violence on January 20, Inauguration Day.

I will be amazed if Pence pulls his courage together and convenes a Cabinet meeting to vote on the 25th Amendment.

I will be amazed if our Congress votes on the Articles of Impeachment, and REALLY AMAZED if the Senate would take it up and convict #45.

I was amazed, and relieved, to read that Speaker Pelosi spoke with General Milley about control of the Nuclear Codes in the last perilous days of this presidency.
